New Design

Roots of the new design

About every two years I seem to update the Shadow song designs website to add touches visually, newer tech and trends and organize content better. I look at what works on the website, based on feedback and other internet magics :) and what needs improvement or what may need to be added.

My first official design in 2006, seen above, was more of a arts and craft website look with grunge elements. I updated the design in 2008 to have a cleaner look and to allow for a more flexible design to add content and additions. The 2006 design was just too rigid. For the 2008 design, seen at the end of this post, I kept the basic color palette and some of the art elements in the header area and smaller elements in the website. Overall it was a cleaner design and easier to update.

With this 2010 design I am able to add web elements and tech and additions much easier and with the organization offered by the tabbed folder like idea of sub pages I am able to offer more and easier to find content without dealing with drop down menus. I kept a similar color theme and header art elements from previous designs. The Home page header now allows me to slide between different headers to more visually explain some services and have fun. Sliders, like that, can be programmed to fit any website size and purpose. I can add them to any new or existing website.

The background image resizes from the Home page. It is meant to better reflect the name Shadow song designs with the light coming through and a mysterious atmosphere. Above, is a childhood space cut out hanging mobile background that I was playing with. I liked the whimsy of it and the fun. It just didn't seem to match as well so I abandoned it. I may revisit this idea for this website and install a style switcher so that you can switch between the mysterious style and this childhood style depending on your websurfing mood :)

Overall this current design is more open and clean while still having an overall consistant theme and have some personality. I will still be adding content and especially website examples. With the examples you can look through some website ideas for your own website I work on with you and even ask me to customize one of the website ideas I post for your own website. I have found that it is easier to visually see elements and styles to better know what you want for your own website. I'll be adding designs for websites through the year.
